Coventry Godiva Harriers (CGH) young athlete endurance group is one of the event specific training groups open to young athletes (girls and boys) between the ages of 12 - 20.
Our training base is the Coventry Athletics Track, Kirby Corner Road, Coventry, CV4 7AL. The facility is part of the University of Warwick and parking is normally in Car Park 12 (parking is free of charge after 6pm). There are two organised club sessions each week, held on Tuesday and Thursday between approx. 6:20pm - 7:45pm.
All our group sessions are held outdoors, athletes should dress accordingly and have spare kit in case of poor weather to travel home in. During the September – April period, athletes must wear High Viz training gear. Spare high viz training tops are available for athletes during any trial period. Training sessions are held on either the track or we have the advantage of either the University playing field or path circuits surrounding the University.
Most endurance runners will not reach their full athletic potential until they reach the age of 25+. Therefore, as our sport is one where an athlete’s best performances are not achieved until they reach adulthood, we endeavour at CGH to encourage training and competition models which encourage retention and progression in the sport.
